IONCROSS Freelancer: Total War Music

IONCROSS Total War features its very own sound track made to give the Total War universe a unique feel. Lee Barber (TO) has created a soundtrack consisting of 19 original space pieces as well as 12 new bar music pieces. Featuring Damon De Maio (FIDGAF) on guitar, the soundtrack ranges from some ripping guitar battle pieces, to techno bar music and synthetic ambiences.

The Soundtrack

The Total War Mod Loader can download and install the whole soundtrack automatically for you.  If you would like to download the music package manually, you can download it directly here Each piece in the soundtrack overwrites one of the original pieces in the game. This is a list of each piece for each system, along with the piece name and the pathname you need to copy it to. The entire soundtrack is roughly 50 meg in size.

Pieces marked with an asterisk (*) are remixes of music from other games, these remixes are tributes and full credit has been payed to the original authors. For more information, please read the Disclaimer at the bottom of the page.

Not So Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why have you overwritten files, rather than makes new names?
A: Because the soundtrack is rather large, we've given people the option of not downloading it, and still having the normal Freelancer music playing. We have to assign the track names playing in each system and base, so if we renamed all the files, then the music wouldn't play at all for people who choose not to download the soundtrack.

Q: So why have you made two new tracks for Bering (music_bering_li and music_bering_rh)?
A: People who don't download the soundtrack will only hear one track playing in Bering as ambience, rather than three. By modifying the music.ini which MUST be downloaded along with the music, the pathnames have been changed to point at the two new track names, rather than just the original one.

Q: I'm having trouble setting the music up?
A: If you're having any trouble with the music, or sounds, or the game in general, please post a message to the admin on the
Total War Forums.

Q: Who made that ripping awesome guitar?
A:
FIDGAF of course!

Q: Some of this music sounds familiar, is this all original?
A: The majority of the tracks are original, however I have based a few of the tracks off other pieces from movies and games. One example is
the Red Hessians theme which is a remix of a Final Doom song. Also the Rheinland Music is based off Descent 3 music that I really like.

Q: Will you release an MP3 soundtrack some time soon?
A: I may, however a few of the pieces I've been working on were lost in the great computer crash of March. If I release an MP3 soundtrack, it'll just include certain TW tracks.

Q: Why is my voice changing?
A:
Too much Ventrilo. Try Soothers.

Disclaimer and Contact Information

Several pieces here were influenced by music from other games and movies. In particular, the Red Hessians Theme is a ReMix from a Final Doom piece, and the Rheinland theme is a ReMix from Seiken Densetsu 3, both of which I submitted successfully to OverClocked ReMix. Everything else is original with inspiration from particular tracks in the games Doom, Raptor, Descent and also music from the Matrix.
